Since early years as MD, had served in a remote area in Indonesia. Then, continued education and graduated as ophthalmologist. Participate actively in many professional organization since then.
Appointed as dean of FMUI which grew exponentially during two tenures in 2008. During these years, FMUI engaged in various development both national and internationally. Notably implementing academic health system (AHS) which then led FMUI to became model for AAHCI. All these years, had been an avid advocate on medical education and national public health system, working closely with both medical institutions and governmental institutions generating constructive policies. Also, conducted various research work on
ophthalmology and published in many high-ranking journals with keen interest in dry eyes syndrome as well as ocular infection and immunology.
