Zuguo Liu, Professor of Ophthalmology, is currently the Director of Eye Institute of Xiamen University, and President of the First Affiliated Hospital of South China University. He was awarded as Chang Jiang Scholar by Ministry of Education, Distinguished Young Scholar by National Natural Science Foundation. 

Professor Liu received his M.D. degree from Hengyang Medical College in 1985,  and obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degree at Sun Yat-sen Medical University of China in 1991 and 1996 respectively.  He studied as a visiting scholar at LSU eye center in 1992, and then he worked as a post-doc at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute from 1997 to 1999. 

Professor Liu has issued 40 national textbooks and monographs as chief editor or editor. He published more than 500 academic papers with 250 papers in SCI journals. Among them, 42 papers were published in IOVS and Ophthalmology. He invented 50 patents, and he has been supported by more than 50 grants. He is the winner of the distinguished award of Ophthalmology in China, and APAO achievement award. 

Currently, Professor Liu is the President of the Chinese Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Society and the Ophthalmology Society of Cross Straits Medicine Exchange Association, Board of director of TFOS, Council menber of Asia Cornea Society, as well as the standing committee of Chinese Ophthalmology Soceity and Chinese Ophthalmologist Association.
