Dr. Theofilos Tourtas, MD, is an Attending Surgeon on Cornea Service at the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Erlangen. He is currently a Professor of Ophthalmology and serves as the Chief of the Cornea Division of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Erlangen. He is also the Medical Director of the Eye Bank of the University of Erlangen and a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). He completed a Cornea fellowship under the supervision of Professor Friedrich Kruse at the same Department where he remained on faculty. 

Dr. Tourtas has given numerous scientific presentations at local, national and international meetings, including instructional courses and wet labs at the annual Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the European Cornea Society (EuCornea). He also serves as a reviewer for several ophthalmology journals.
