Biography:

Dr Ong is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Corneal and External Diseases department, Singapore National Eye Centre. He is an Assistant Professor in the SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme and is currently the appointed Deputy Clinical Director of the Singapore Eye Bank.


Dr Ong has won awards for his research interests, which span several different aspects of corneal and external eye diseases, ocular surface inflammation and scarring, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery. His research incorporates basic science and clinical translation, including cell-based therapies for corneal diseases. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed international medical journals and has also authored in various book chapters in ophthalmology reference texts. He is completing  a PhD in ocular surface inflammation and scarring at The UCL Institute of Ophthalmology UK.
