Dr. Lloyd B. Williams is a distinguished ophthalmologist whose career reflects a deep commitment to advancing the field of cornea and refractive surgery. After earning a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and an M.D. from Tufts University, Dr. Williams completed his ophthalmology residency at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, followed by a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University. His academic journey is complemented by a robust foundation in materials science and engineering, having earned multiple degrees in this field prior to his medical training.
Currently, Dr. Williams serves as the Division Chair of Global Ophthalmology and an Assistant Professor in the Cornea Division at Duke University. His leadership extends beyond academia into the community, where he holds the position of Medical Director at Standard Optical in Salt Lake City. He has also been actively involved in international outreach, particularly in underserved regions, where his efforts have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the AAO Secretariat Award for performing the first cornea transplant in Sierra Leone.
