Hamzah, MD was born at Bulukumba on August 8th 1958. He got his medical doctor degree from Hasanuddin University in 1985 and finished his residency program as ophthalmologist from the same university in 1996. Later he finished his fellowship on Cataract and Refractrive Surgery at Jakarta Eye Center in 2002. 

He was a former head of BKMM of South Sulawesi from 2003 to 2011. He is also a a staff of  Department of Ophthalmology at Hasanuddin University from 1997 until now. He is currently the chief director and operational of JEC_Orbita Hospital.

He is also an active member of IDI South Sulawesi, Perdami South Sulawesi, and INASCRS.
