WL-IC Wetlab As Chair

INASCRS Iris Claw Wet-Lab

September 28, 2024 08:30 - 10:30 (GMT+7) Blake

The objective of the Iris Claw wet lab is to equip ophthalmic surgeons with practical skills and a thorough understanding of the Iris Claw intraocular lens (IOL) implantation technique. This technique is often employed in cases of aphakia without sufficient capsular support, where traditional IOL implantation methods are not feasible. The wet lab provides participants with hands-on experience in the key steps of the procedure, including the insertion, fixation, and centration of the Iris Claw lens onto the iris. By practicing these steps in a controlled setting, surgeons will become adept at managing the specific challenges associated with this technique, such as ensuring proper lens stability and minimizing the risk of complications. In addition to hands-on practice, the wet lab aims to deepen the participants' knowledge of the anatomical and biomechanical principles that underlie the Iris Claw technique. Through expert instruction and real-time feedback, surgeons will learn to anticipate and address potential issues that may arise during the procedure. The wet lab also emphasizes the importance of patient selection and preoperative planning to ensure optimal outcomes. By the end of the session, participants will have gained the confidence and proficiency necessary to integrate the Iris Claw technique into their surgical repertoire, ultimately improving their ability to offer effective solutions for patients with complex lens implantation needs.
