With a 2- decade-long tenure as a Senior Consultant in Cornea Services at Sankara Nethralaya, Dr. Iyer has been a pivotal figure in the realm of ocular surface care, setting up the Ocular Surface Clinic at SN. 

She is one of the founding members and former President of the Cornea Society of India as well as Board of Directors member of the International Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS).

Her academic pursuits are equally notable, with adjunct faculty positions at esteemed institutions like the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and a Steering Member of the International Kpro Study Group. 

Her experience spans over 300 keratoprosthesis surgeries (MOOKP, Boston Type 1 and 2 Kpro, and osteo Kpro). Her areas of interest include SJS, chemical injuries, LSCD, ocular surface tumors among others.

With more than 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals and a patent for a Dry Eye Application, Dr. Geetha Iyer is recognized for her contributions to the field of ocular surface, with a commitment to innovation and excellence.
