Dr. Manisha Acharya is a distinguished ophthalmologist based in Delhi. She earned her MS degree in 2003 from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh, and subsequently completed her fellowship at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital. Further honing her expertise, Dr. Acharya trained at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, and the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad.
Currently, Dr. Acharya serves as the Director of Cornea and Eye Banking Services at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital in New Delhi. Her primary area of interest is infective keratitis, and she is engaged in groundbreaking research on viral keratitis. In addition to her role as a proficient corneal surgeon with a focus on corneal infections, Dr. Acharya oversees the Eye Bank at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, which is one of the fastest-growing eye banks in North India. Her dedication and contributions to Indian eye banking have earned her national and international recognition.
In 2016, Dr. Acharya and her team were awarded the BMJ South Asia Healthcare Award for Quality Team of the Year for their "Improvement in Eye Bank Tissue Utilisation through Quality Assurance Initiatives." Her recently released book, "Eye Bank Tissue Recovery," published by the Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI), has been highly acclaimed within the eye banking community. With over 50 publications to her name, Dr. Acharya’s research on corneal infections and quality and training in eye banking is globally acknowledged and respected.
