Robert ANG, MD

Dr. Robert Edward Ang is a senior consultant and Head of Cornea and Refractive Surgery Services at the Asian Eye Institute in Makati City, Philippines.  He completed his Ophthalmology residency training at the Philippine General Hospital Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and undertook two fellowship training programs (Glaucoma, then Cornea and Refractive Surgery) at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School.  In addition to his clinical responsibilities, his passion includes teaching fellows and residents and performing research studies on presbyopia treatment, intraocular lens technology and glaucoma devices. 

Dr. Ang is a principal investigator for the Bausch and Lomb Supracor presbyopic lasik algorithm and Transepithelial PRK of the Teneo II excimer laser, Staar VIVA EDOF (extended depth of focus) ICL, Acevision laser scleral microporation, Acufocus IC-8 small aperture IOL, Physiol Finevision Trifocal and Trifocal Toric IOL, Physiol Isopure EDOF IOL, J&J Toric II and Synergy continuous range of vision IOL, Hoya Impress EDOF and Gemetric Trifocal IOL,  Bausch and Lomb Luxsmart EDOF IOL, Harmoni modular IOL, Vialase Glaucoma femtosecond laser, Spyglass drug delivery IOL, Bimatoprost SR implant, Hydrus microstent and the Glaukos Inject, Supra and iDose sustained drug delivery glaucoma devices. 

Dr. Ang has authored several book chapters and international publications and is an invited speaker in many international conferences.  He has received several Best Paper awards at ASCRS, APACRS and APAO.   In 2013, Dr. Ang received the Certified Educators Award from the Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.  In 2018, he was voted as one of the Power List 100 by The Ophthalmologist Magazine.  In 2019, Dr. Ang received the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) Presidential Recognition Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology refractive surgery subspecialty day.  In 2021, Dr. Ang was conferred the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology Geminiano de Ocampo Outstanding Researcher in Ophthalmology Award.  In 2023, he received the Senior Achievement Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. And in 2024, he was again voted into the Powerlist 100 by The Ophthalmologist Magazine.
