Professor Young is passionate in anterior segment advancement & education through the Asia Cornea Society, the Asia-Pacific KPro Society, the HK Society of Transplantation & the Cornea Society over the past 20 years. He was involved in the ICO Residency Curriculum (Cornea) and OSCAR Reviews. Professor Young takes an avid interest in mentoring aspiring younger generations, ~ 70 fellows & residents were trained by him (China, Asia to South America).

Professor Young is recognised as 'Elite' status in Medifind and serves as Section Editor for the APJO and EYE.  He has published ~ 260 peer reviewed papers with a H-index of 46. He was the world's top 2% of Scientists in Ophthalmology & Optometry (year of 2022). He served as Extern Assessor & Examiner for various Australia, New Zealand and Singapore Universities, Ophthalmology Fellowship in Scotland (FRCSEd) & the Macau Health Bureau.

His awards included the Asia-Pacific Eye 100, APAO Senior Achievement & Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Awards.
