Syam SUHARYONO, MD

He completed his elementary education at Elementary School Pujokusuman 1 Yogyakarta from 1994 to 2000, followed by junior high school at SMP Negeri 3 Yogyakarta from 2000 to 2003. He attended senior high school at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta from 2003 to 2006. He earned his Medical Bachelor degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta in 2010 and continued his medical education there, earning his Medical Doctor degree in 2012. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta from 2014 to 2017.

In addition to his formal education, he has pursued several non-formal educational opportunities. In 2018, he received a Phacoemulsification Surgery Certification from INASCRS (Indonesian Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery). In 2017, he completed two observerships, one at the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Nepal and another at the Jakarta Eye Center, each lasting two weeks. He also completed an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course with PERKI in 2013, which was a three-day program, and a Medical Student Summer Course with IFMSA/CIMSA in 2009, which lasted 30 days.

His professional experience began in 2012 with internships as a General Practitioner at Primary Health Care in Keruak, Lombok Timur, NTB, and at District Hospital Dr. Soedjono in Selong, Lombok Timur, NTB. In 2013, he worked as a General Practitioner at Hospital Bethesda Lempuyang Wangi in Yogyakarta and as a Lecturer at the Medical Faculty of Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana. From 2014 to 2018, he was an Ophthalmology Resident at RSUP Dr. Sardjito/FKKMK UGM. Since 2019, he has been a staff member in the Ophthalmology Department at Universitas Gadjah Mada, serving as a Lecturer. Additionally, he has been practicing as an Ophthalmologist at RS Bhayangkara Yogyakarta and RS Panti Waluyo Purworejo since 2018, and at RS Mata "Dr.Yap" since 2021.

His involvement in professional organizations includes serving as the Coordinator of SPBK for PERDAMI since 2014. He is a member of INASCRS since 2018, APAO since 2017, APACRS since 2018, AAO since 2018, and ESCRS since 2016.
